Samsung Galaxy S6 Ready To Challenge AppleÂ’s IPhone 6.

Galaxy S6 Vs iPhone 6.

(Wireless-NewsWire.Com, May 23, 2015 ) London, UK -- The Apple iPhone 6 is facing a battle in the bid to satisfy the demand for large screen smartphones following last month's launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6.

Apple stole a march on the market with the launch of the iPhone 6 in September 2014, while the Samsung S6 did not become available until April 2015.

The Apple iPhone 6 and its sister model the iPhone 6 Plus proved there was a ready market for phones with larger screens amongst the Apple crowd. The iPhone 6 range attracted an astounding 10 million sales during the first weekend following its launch.

Fast forward seven months to April 2015 and the impact of a new launch with subsequent high demand enjoyed by both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge served to temper iPhone 6 range sales figures.

In late March, in the run up to the Galaxy S6 launch sales of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus began to fall as Samsung saw a surge in pre-orders. This led to Samsung upgrading its production target for April from 7 to 8 million. The total number of Galaxy 6 and Galaxy 6 Edge units manufactured during March and April topped 13 million.

The initial interest and pre-orders for the Galaxy 6 range was welcome news for Samsung which had suffered a downturn in the face of competition from cheap smartphones produced in China. The impact of the iPhone 6 had also taken its toll as Samsung continued to lose its market share. This was reflected in the Korean giant's Q1 profit figures for 2015. They stood at $4.63 billion net, 39% down on the corresponding quarter 12-months earlier.

A stark similarity has been the criticism of this generation of handsets from both Apple and Samsung in terms to the durability of the devices. More specifically, how they respond to everyday user pressure, even in such standard situations as your trouser pocket. Samsung reportedly stated they had no such issue, like ‘other smartphones' in a dig at Apple's ‘bendgate' drama at the S6 launch, but subsequently Square Trade's now famous video, has shown the Samsung S6 Edge with a catastrophic failure pressure below that of the iPhone 6 Plus.

Accessory producers, such as Boom which produces the Shock-2 Hybrid Protection Case for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus*, could be set to benefit further following these revelations as handsets become not only delicate in circumstances where impact is involved but allegedly even under relatively light sustained pressure, such as in your back pocket when seated.

Meanwhile, Apple will not be resting on their laurels following the success of the iPhone 6. There are already rumours that an iPhone 6S or even an iPhone 7 could be unveiled as early as this autumn and it is expected that these issues will be addressed.
